Touring the UK

May Thirteen, 2012 -

Today we got on a coach at 8:00 am that picked us up from the hotel, and it took us to the main pick up station.  Finally after about 3 hours on the coach we arrived at Bath which was the only hot spring in the entire country.  This hot spring was originally built by Romans, but was not rediscovered until about 150 years ago.  The main spring was very dirty and green, but at the end of the tour they had clean water that was "drinkable", but it was warm and did not taste good.  The town was all build from bath stone which is a yellow looking sandstone.  They had a circle with 30 houses in a perfect circle and it was rightfully named "bath circus".  After the tour of the baths we ate panninis in one of the squares.  Next we got back on the coach and headed towards Salisbury.  We arrived at the Salisbury Cathedral and while we were there we saw a very ornate baptismal fountain and the Magna Carta.

Finally our last stop on the coach ride was Stone Henge.  Once we got there I was quite suprised at how small it actually was because for as long as I have known about Stone Henge, I thought it was huge and in the middle of a vast field.  Well I was wrong because the site was surrounded by 2 major highways and a bunch of sheep.  Unfortunately the whole site was just a major tourist attraction and was a little disappointing.

Luckily while I was on the bus I was able to catch up on some much needed sleep.  The best part of our day, minus the actual sites themselves, was the actual tour guide himself.  He was a very upbeat small man with a great attitude.
