June Third, 2012 –
Today we had one of the longest metro rides that took us to
what it seemed like the outer banks of central Vienna. When we exited from the station there was a
giant carnival in front of us and most thought that was what we were going to
do for the day. Unfortunately we walked
right past the park and on to our “nature walk”. While we were on the nature walk we came
across thousands of people walking and running in a benefit run. From what we saw we deduced that it was maybe
for breast cancer since every single person that was involved was female and
they were wearing red, which is the color for Vienna apparently. Just to say, for all of the walkers involved
I would have to say that pretty much every single one of them had hiking poles
and when looking from the outside this was a little strange, but there were
thousands of them. I definitely wish I
had taken a picture of this just to show the craziness of it. We continued to walk a pretty long way and
finally turned around to go back and get some food. When we finally got back to food in literally
took the three people who got food an hour.
Most of us just decided to wait until later, but we ended up having to
wait anyways for the others.
On our walk back we had the option to go to another museum
or go to the carnival place. I went
ahead and went strait to the carnival for some good old-fashioned fun. Our first ride was a giant swing that took
you up high in the sky and swung you around so you actually ended up with some
pretty amazing views of Vienna. The
second ride was called the black mamba and it was pretty intense. This ride went around and swung you forwards
and backwards with what felt like weightlessness at times. We walked through the rest of the park and
would stop at various other rides that looked like fun.
After the carnival we went back to the hotel and for dinner
a few of us walked down the street to a place and I got a schnitzel sandwich
and beer. We went back to the hotel and
took it easy and packed for the train ride we have in the morning.
