BMW Museum (two cones) Munich
June Twelfth, 2012 –
Today was a ridiculously early start, but once we arrived
and our presentation began it was definitely worth it and it was an awesome
experience. The company we visited was
Josef-Gartner, and they are a part of the Permasteelisa group. “At its headquarters in Germany GARTNER
designs and manufactures mainly custom-made envelopes in aluminum and steel.”
(Gartner). Our first stop was a brief
power point presentation that gave us an overview of the company and some of
the many projects they have been a part of.
Our next stop was their prototype/mockup room, which held many partially
structured pieces and they all had working parts in order to show the clients
what the product would be like. After
the mockups we toured the actual manufacturing plant and all the different
stages of the actual manufacturing. At
the end of the walk through the company was nice enough to even provide a very
nice lunch for all of us at the café right next door to the plant. Just to give you an idea of the size of this
companies total physical size in Munich was something around 500,000 Square
meters.
This tour lasted a pretty long time and
the total trip time was also a few hours so when we finally got back into town
most of us came home and changed or showered.
After cleaning up a few of us decided to go the Houfbrau House once
again and get a beer and some dinner. I
was definitely a little tired after the long day so I called it an early night
once again, especially since we have to be downstairs at 7:10 am tomorrow…
