May Twelve, 2012 –
Today we started off walking to St. Paul’s Cathedral and on
the way I realized that I had left my wallet back at the hotel. Sumner and I turned around and walked back so
he could change and I could grab my wallet.
We were told to meet at St. Paul’s once we had everything. Once we were finally ready we hopped on the
Tube only to find out that when we needed to change lines, ours was shut down
for engineering work. We left the
underground and hoped on an aboveground bus to St. Paul’s. The group walked around for 1 hour trying to
find the cathedral, but I found it and was able to walk back to the hotel and
then all the way to St. Paul’s in about 20 minutes. We toured the amazing cathedral and walked up
the 528 stairs to the very top and were able to see London from above the
city.
After the St. Paul’s we then left for the Tower of London,
and unfortunately we saw our first accident in London. At the Tower of London we saw the torturing
devices used hundreds of years ago, and the crown jewels. The crown jewels were very ornate and in the
same place we saw loads of gold pieces that were ridiculously large.
Our last stop of the day was the Imperial War Museum, which
was in the Elephant and Castle area.
Here at the museum was a collection of military vehicles from different
countries and the history of wars that have been fought. This was an amazing place and a great history
lesson.
